Welcome to the Riata Young Horse Association

Youngst*rs is a points-based program designed to recognize the achievements of outstanding youngsters. In general, horses are not registered individually in the RYHA, but if they are named Grand or Reserve Champion at one of our monthly shows, they are eligible to begin earning points.

Rules & Information

1. Horses of all ages, breeds, and disciplines are eligible to become Youngst*rs.
2. Any horse wins a Grand Champion or Reserve Champion title at a monthly show is automatically nominated to be a Youngst*r.
3. After a horse is deemed a Youngst*r, they are eligible to accrue points towards year-end distinctions and prizes. They do not receive points for their qualifying championship.
4. Points are only awarded to Youngst*r horses who are Grand Champions, Reserve Champions, or who place in the top three of each class.
5. Youngst*rs are re-set every year. Horses that qualify as Youngst*rs during the November or December monthly shows are eligible to compete as Youngst*rs through the following year's show season.
6. IMPORTANT: Youngst*rs must be distinguished with an asterisk (*) beside their names in order to receive points in monthly shows and RYHA-sanctioned events.
